Between Love and Death

Now she stands between us, holding the ultimate choice in her hands

Two worlds watch--
one vast and unknown, offering only the promise of leaving this one
another beautiful but transient, dancing to the beat of my heart

We whisper in her ears, telling of ourselves, seductively caressing her mind with our words:
We fight the quietest war over her, wishing that she would choose and end our wait...

Don't go...!

As I wrote this, a Xanth novel drifted to mind... I can't remember which one, but the zombie takes two curses in place of other characters. "Love and death... the only cure for one was the other." {If you're really interested, it was the novel in which the evil witch wanted the Seeds of Doubt, Dissention, and War from the Simurgh. Xanth was also dealing with a Wiggle nest. Other than that, details are sparse... Irene carried the seed of Doubt for a while, and the guy with them had Dissention (a spiny seed), and the zombie carried War (a mushroom cloud.) The seeds didn't affect the zombie, so eventually she ended up with all three of them.}
