I. The Call feel my power's seductive caress-- i'll help you die any way you wish, making you stronger than imagination. take your knife, set yourself free, leave behind your daily nightmare and all their ignorance of her pain in any way you want, and i can help. use me: my shimmering, beautiful, deadly power and leave behind your broken mind! II. The Voices Do it-- feel the rush of bloody freedom! She lived: so must you. Fear is paralysis For if it unleashed itself It would destroy itself. Release it-- And it will be gone. III. The Answer Within The knife was gently set there, beckoning and helpless, Alone on the table before the one who had turned away From the terror of the demon whispering in his mind. He looked at it, tiny and naked and beautifully sharp Lying on the table, and he pulled her heart closer. Sapphire so deep it was almost black lay there, quiet, Cradled in his hands. Lifting it to the light, he saw Within its blue fires, the faint outline of flowers-- Roses and orchids and morning glories blazing azure In the light of the midnight sun. A long moment passed Until he lowered it again and gazed into its blackness, Wondering if he was strong enough to love her demons. A crying knife, an emotionless smile, and a whisper-- "I will have to be."
I don't remember writing this, but I do remember the demon that visited me with that on his mind. He has returned once since; I seized him and demanded he help me conquer the world, at which point he left again.
