Cloning Error - Poetry - Lakeside Park

WARNING: suicide (by slitting wrists) and rather inhumane besides

Cloning Error

they always said he was special
          a miracle
                    beyond belief
the ultimate triumph at last
greatest achievement of modern medicine
proof of scientific genius
and anything else they could think of

he always knew he was special
          they followed
                        only him
watching whenever they could
laden with cameras and microphones
and bright lights and gaudy logos
and anything else they could think of

but he tired of being special
          locking the door
                           lifting the razor
they said it was a failed experiment
that he couldn't handle society
or he was dangerous because nobody knew
and anything else they could think of

He didn't matter to them. He was just a clone. When will this become reality?

Poetry is funny. I walked half a mile to listen to the peepers for inspiration. I came back, wrote some junk about them, and then this. Strange how ethics made a better poem than a warm spring night.

I've always known that if I leave, it will be by slitting my wrists...
