Portrait of a Sleeper - Poetry - Lakeside Park

Portrait of a Sleeper

She lies there peacefully
Curled up
With the smooth skin of her bare shoulder
      exposed to the passing world.
She looks so delicate
So inviting
For a gentle caress or the lightest
      and softest of kisses.
She has the protection
Of a hero
Who does not know her, who might
never need to act for her.
